There are lots of shower choices available. Therefore shop around and always pick one that will make the most of your water supply. For instance, if your system is fed by gravity, or you are fitted with a hot water cylinder and a cold-water storage cistern up in your loft you have some choices.

Those choices are for example, a mixer shower with (or without) a pump, a power shower or even an electric shower. South West London Plumbers can supply and fit all types of showers. Or you may have a combination boiler or your cold water comes directly from the mains, this means you can only install a mixer shower or an electric shower, no pump can be fitted to a combination boiler or a mains supply.

Electric.
This operates using an electrical element, it only needs a cold water supply. This is warmed by electrical heating elements situated in the unit. The bigger the kilowatt rating, the more powerful the shower, though the force of its spray can weaken in really cold weather when the incoming colder mains water will take longer to heat up. A South West London Plumber is trained to different types of showers.

Thermostatic Mixer.
You set the temperature with a manual control and the thermostat keeps the temperature within 2°C of the setting, even if someone draws water from somewhere else in the home. It can be installed over a bath or in its own separate cubicle. If you have a gravity fed water system you can connect a booster pump.

Power.
Works just the same as a thermostatic mixer, but, it has a built-in electric pump to boost the rate of flow. An excellent choice if you have a lower water pressure in your home, however, the pump is only compatible with a gravity fed system.

Basic Mixer.
This is a cheap and easy option to fit without new plumbing or electrical connections. The supply of hot and cold water is achieved by turning both bath taps. It can be hard to achieve the temperature you want, and the temperature will be affected if someone draws water elsewhere in the house.
